MADISON (CBS 58) - In 2023, the Grafton Black Hawks lost to Rice Lake 28-20 falling short of bringing a Gold Ball home. Now, the Black Hawks take on the Reedsburg Beavers in the Division 3 State Title game looking for its first state title since 1982.

Grafton gets it done taking down Reedsburg 17-15 for its first state title in 43 years.

Grafton used two long 13-play drives of 81 yards and 91 yards capped off by Jack Nelson scoring two rushing touchdowns. Nelson led the Blackhawks ground attack with 167 yards.

Three Grafton turnovers opened the door for Reedsburg as they scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion with 1:39 to play to take a 15-14 lead.

The Black Hawks executed a 15-play drive with two fourth down conversions to set up senior Graysen Bollech from 35 yards for the game-winning kick and he nailed it with ease with 6 seconds to go.

"It was incredible, no words can describe that feeling. All the blood was pumping. I looked up I saw the fans erupt, it was a feeling like no other," said Bollech after his game-winning kick. "Our motto on the season was just prove everyone wrong and we live off doubt, that's just what we do."

"It's freaking was unbelievable, it was amazing. Emotional roller coaster of a game and our boys responded," said Jim Norris, Black Hawks head coach. "Resiliency has been the theme the last 13 days couldn't be more proud. It goes back to our guys, believing our seniors believing and the culture we built."

"It's been my biggest senior class and I love them. love them a lot," said Norris when asked how much this team means to him.

This is Grafton's third overall state title after winning back-to-back titles in 1981 and 1982.
