Armed robbery search in West Allis

A huge police presence Friday night after several robberies rock the neighborhood near 60th and Lapham.

Police and crime scene technicians spent hours on the scene, combing the area for blocks.

Alleys were sealed off with crime scene tape. Some officers were spotted heading out into the darkened neighborhood on foot.

Some appeared to be looking for evidence, others were interviewing residents.

CBS 58 News has preliminary information. A source says there were three robberies that happened quickly within just a couple of blocks.

The initial belief is that the same suspects are responsible for all of the incidents.

Neighbors say they aren't sure if a pop they heard right before the sirens has anything to do with the investigation.

\"We were watching t.v. and I thought I heard a gunshot,\" neighbor Linda Magdaleno recalled. \"We really didn't pay attention. Then we heard and saw the police and I realized it must have been a real gunshot. It's kind of quiet over here. We've never had this kind of problem before and we've been here for five years.\"

CBS 58 crews didn't see any ambulances at the scene which might indicate if somebody was hurt.

Then again, West Allis Police aren't commenting because there's an active search apparently going on.

As soon as they do speak on the matter, we will share it with you.
