After 11 consecutive days with temperatures well below our average and well below freezing, the cold air is continuing on again today. A gusty wind has developed this afternoon with winds moving in out of the west and northwest. As gusts could reach anywhere from 15-25mph, cold arctic air is still being pulled in. High temps this afternoon will stay barely reaching the teens, and with the wind, our chills will be well below zero.
High temperatures will continue to stay below 20 degrees through the end of this work week. However, by the end of this week, some relief is in store with highs likely to return to above 30 degrees!
This warmer air come in after our next snow chance.
A weak disturbance is moving in over Lake Superior, bringing in a few flurries up north which has allowed for some cloud cover to develop for us. Otherwise, we have high pressure in place which is keeping quiet and dry.
Our next system will build in by Friday, and as of now this system is looking to usher in more of a northeast wind, which would create a lake effect event. Counties near the Lake could see heavier snowfall at times, as well as gusty winds creating bursts of snow which would deteriorate visibility. Icy spots are also possible.
Lake effect snow chances hold through Saturday, before sunshine and 30s are on the horizon for Sunday.
