CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) – Jen’s Sweet Treats in Cudahy is holding a second fundraiser for two area police officers that were killed while off-duty this month.

The first fundraiser was held at the bakery on Wednesday alongside a brat and burger fry.

Volunteers came to the bakery Friday morning to help frost 1,000 cupcakes that will be sold at the Racine Zoo’s Wine, Stein and Dine event on Saturday.

All of the proceeds from the sale will go to the families of Milwaukee Police Officer Kou Her and Racine Police Officer John Hetland.

Two of the volunteers on Friday knew Officer Hetland and said they wanted to help.

“It’s just a good cause and since Officer Hetland worked with me and I’ve known him the last 19 years, it’s a little close to home this time,” Racine Police Officer and volunteer Kristi Wilcox said.

Another volunteer said she hopes the money will help the families through this difficult time and for years to come.

“Johnny’s got two small kids that have to get through this and the rest of their lives without their father,” Khristie Jungbluth said. “Anything we can do to help with that, we’re going to.”

The owner of Jen’s Sweet Treats, Jennifer Clark, says they’ve already raised $10,000 and hope to raise a lot more on Saturday.
