Anti-icing products 'less effective' during this type of weather, Milwaukee DPW warns drivers

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- The city of Milwaukee's Department of Public Works (DPW) is warning drivers to be extra cautious on the roads this morning, Tuesday, Feb. 22.

According to the DPW, a city-wide salting began 9 p.m. Monday night. Since then crews completed both residential and main streets and are now readdressing the main routes to prepare for rush hour traffic.

"Please be aware, this type of precipitation can dilute the anti-icing product making it less effective. So anyone traveling in these conditions should be cautious," the department said in a release Tuesday morning.
