Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: No Tail
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Have you ever watched a dragon boat race?
Lots of people showed up on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Lake Shore State Park to watch dozens of races.
It was the Milwaukee Dragon Boat Festival, and it's more than just races. It is a showcase of Chinese culture.
The boats are low in the water, with large crews on the oars. They race in a series of heats. CBS 58 talked to one rower who represents Rockwell Automation.
"It's just really high energy, the teamwork, with racing and the dragon boat race is amazing, it feels really good, and it brings people together," said Celeste Lozano, rower.
Along with the boat races, the festival includes traditional Chinese music, traditional dances, martial arts demonstrations, and a dragon parade. You could even learn to read and write in Chinese.
