Burlington, WIS. (CBS 58) -- A group of young AmeriCorps volunteers spent the day training for something they hope never happens.
The Great Lakes Community Conservation Corps held a mock plane crash training exercise in Burlington.
Groups received training in a number of tasks like drone and radio operations and roadside flaggers. So if they get called to respond to an emergency, they're ready to go.
"You see these teams functioning with their different skills to bring it all together and implement an incident response is I think heroic and commendable," said Chris Litzau with The Great Lakes Community Conservation Corps.
This was the first training exercise completed in a rural area.
