'America's largest retro gaming event': Midwest Gaming Classic returning to Baird Center 🕹️

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Midwest Gaming Classic, billed as the largest retro gaming event in America, is headed to Milwaukee's Baird Center. Expect the show to bring along the beeps and bops of Pac-Man, the barrel-throwing madness of Donkey Kong, the quest to save Princess Zelda and even the exclamations of "It's-a-me, Mario!"

The event, spanning from Thursday, April 5, to Saturday, April 7, aims to provide a nostalgic journey through gaming history for not only those who were fans in the 80s, but also the gamers who still play the classics.

The MGC is scheduling thousands of free-play arcade and console games, a playable gaming museum and tournaments. There will also be live entertainment and meet-and-greets with pop-culture personalities. The goal is for all gamers, regardless of skill level, to enjoy their favorite retro games and discover ones that are new to them.

The 2023 MGC saw attendance of 23,000, with visitors from as far as Japan and Australia.

Tickets are currently on sale, with a variety of options available. A Preview Night on Friday, April 5 is priced at $45, offering limited events from 6 p.m. to midnight. Full Show tickets for Saturday, April 6 are available for $50, allowing access from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Family Day on Sunday, April 7 is set at $25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Multi-day passes are also available.
