Ambulance crews navigate rough roads

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN -- This winter has taken an especially brutal toll on roads in Southeast Wisconsin.  \"Anybody who their primary job is to be out on the streets we all kind of know the good and the bad roads so we might avoid some and choose others,\" explained Bell Ambulance Operations Director, Jason Burr.

But Burr admits in an emergency situation that changes.  \"If you're responding to an emergency call [we're] not going to go out of out way to miss that bump because there's somebody that needs us.\"

North Shore Fire Lieutenant Dan Tyk said during those emergency calls they need to take whatever route to get to [the patient and/or hospital] in a timely fashion.

\"Maybe coming back from calls we'll consider an alternate route,\" he said.
