MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- "Always Remember" is Milwaukee's chapter of Wreaths Across America.
They hosted a fundraiser on Thursday at the Old German Beer Hall in Milwaukee.
It's part of the national Wreaths Across America Day held in December. Nationwide, wreaths are placed on the graves of over 1,100 servicemen and women who have passed away.
The fundraiser included plenty of music, food, and auctions.
People at the event say the nationwide program started from simple roots.
"It was started primarily to cover Arlington and then it grew to all the other national cemeteries in the nation," said Always Remember coordinator Patricia Kujawa.
Two cemeteries in our area have wreaths put on display to mark the occasion, Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee as well as Wisconsin Souther Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
