Alleged dating app predator Timothy Olson wants new representation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Alleged dating app predator Timothy Olson was in court on Wednesday, Dec. 14, and asked his attorney to withdraw from representing him.

Olson is facing several charges including kidnapping and burglary, after officials say he kidnapped a 79-year-old woman in a parking lot outside of a Franklin restaurant.

At a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Olson's time in court was short. Olson insisted his attorney withdraw from representation but did not explain why. Olson claims he is in contact with new lawyers to take on his case.

Olson has been accused of several other crimes. Right now, he is linked to two deaths involving women. One woman was found lifeless in his bed on Nov. 8.

He's also accused of drugging and stealing from women. According to the court commissioner, it may take up to 90 days to appoint a new public defender for Olson -- potentially delaying the case.

"You are still going to be represented by the public defender office until you hire someone else," said Barry Phillips, court commissioner. "If that doesn't happen, your representation will come from the public defender's office. I will also tell you that you may not have an attorney appointed from the public defender's office for 30 to 90 days."

Another preliminary court hearing for Olson is set for Jan. 24.
