Alert neighbor helps track down garage burglary thieves in West Bend

ASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Washington County Sheriff's Deputies are warning criminals after an alert neighbor helped catch criminals following a garage burglary.

The burglary happened Thursday, December 21 in the evening when tools and electronics were taken from a garage in West Bend. Deputies canvased the neighborhood to determine if other garages were burglarized and if neighbors could provide information.

One neighbor was able to provide a deputy with very specific information regarding a suspicious vehicle that was seen the night before. That info was relayed to other law enforcement who saw the car on State Highway 167 near Scenic Road in the Village of Richfield. A tool taken during the burglary was found in the car.

A 24-year-old West Bend man was arrested at the scene and a 23-year-old West Bend woman was later arrested at a house in West Bend where the rest of the stolen items were found.

The Sheriff's Office thanked the citizen for keeping watch in their neighborhood.
