Alderman Willie Hines resigns from Milwaukee Common Council

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Alderman Willie Hines Jr. announced he will resign his office as the alderman for Milwaukee's 15th District effective February 1st. This resignation is shaking up Milwaukee politics since Hines has served as the Common Council President for 10 years, and was thought to be next in line for Mayor of Milwaukee.


According to a release from city hall, Willie Hines Jr. begin work at the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee on February 3rd. He will serve as the new associate director of the Housing Authority.


The Milwaukee Common Council will elect a new president during their February 11th meeting. We're told filling the vacated aldermanic seat will take place no later than November 4, 2014. Until the seat is filled, the city clerk's office will process and handle all business for the 15th District.
