MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin's top prosecutor is responding to the decision to press state charges against former President Donald Trump, and 18 others in Georgia.
Attorney General Josh Kaul was at President Joe Biden's visit to Milwaukee Tuesday, Aug. 15.
Kaul has yet to decide whether to pursue charges against anyone involved in the plot to submit a list of fake Republican electors in Wisconsin.
On his way in, CBS 58 asked AG Kaul whether the charges in Georgia will affect what he decides to do here.
CBS 58's A.J. Bayatpour: "Josh, are you going to be influenced at all by the Georgia indictment?"
AG Kaul: "No comment right now."
The Department of Justice sent CBS 58 a statement on Kaul's behalf:
“Anyone who commits crimes to attempt to overturn the decision of the voters in an election should be held accountable. The allegations in the case in Georgia are of the utmost seriousness, and I am confident that the legal process will result in fair and just resolutions.”
