MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A few dozen people protested Attorney General Jeff Sessions' visit to Milwaukee on Monday.
Organizers say Sessions has a history of hateful rhetoric and policies against minorities, dating back to his days in Alabama politics.
They also called his approach to law enforcement “militaristic” and said his views on cannabis are outdated.
“Jeff Sessions is coming out here to talk about violence in our communities when he is spouting so much hate and he has a history of this,” said protestor Reema Ahmad.
“We need an Attorney General that is actually going to work with municipalities to hold police officers accountable to the best practices,” said State Rep. David Bowen (D).
State Representative Bowen was among the demonstrators today and says he hopes the Trump administration will also do something about crime prevention instead of just funding programs that solely focus on locking people up.
