Suspect arrested after reports of a man hitting women near Marquette University

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- The Marquette University Police Department has arrested a suspect related to threats and assaults against women in the campus area.

This comes after the university issued a safety alert regarding the situation on Sunday, March 14.

Officials say the suspect is in custody and charges are pending with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released. 

The man in the photo was issued with the initial safety alert.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Marquette University issued a safety alert for a man who has been threatening and hitting women near campus on Sunday, March 14.

The Marquette University Police Department is working with Milwaukee County Behavioral Health and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office to hold the individual for long-term supervision and treatment.

The university said campus police have dedicated additional officers to protect the campus and respond to reports of the individual in the area. 

The individual is described as having a muscular build, 6'1, and 229 pounds.
