67-year-old scammed out of $2,300 after receiving phone call from man pretending to work for police department in Michigan

A 67-year-old man called the Brown Deer Police Department to report that he received a phone call from a man claiming that he worked for a police department in Michigan.

The caller told the 67-year-old man that his grandson was involved in an accident, was injured, and had been arrested.

The caller informed the 67-year-old man that he needed to wire $2300 to a receiver in New Jersey in order for his grandson to make bail.

The 67-year-old man mad the wire transfer.

A report was filed.
