62-year-old man driving moped dies after being struck by Studebaker in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 62-year-old man driving a moped died after being struck by a vehicle in Fond du Lac. 

It happened Saturday, Sept. 26, at the intersection of South Pioneer Road and Forest Avenue. 

According to the Fond du Lac Police Department, the 62-year-old moped driver -- identified as Thomas Norton of Fond du Lac -- stopped for a stop sign facing westbound on Forest Avenue, and failed to yield the right of way while attempting to make a left turn. He was struck by a 1962 Studebaker, driven by a 74-year-old North Fond du Lac man. 

Norton was airlifted to treatment in critical condition and later died. 

The driver of the Studebaker was not injured. 

The Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Unit and City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue.
