4-month-old puppy recovering at MADACC after suffering from 'catastrophic injury'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 4-month-old puppy is recovering at MADACC after suffering a 'catastrophic injury.'

Rufio, a poodle puppy, was dropped off as a stray at the Wisconsin Humane Society on Friday with a shattered jaw.

A vet determined that Rufio suffered blunt force trauma to his face that required immediate surgery.

Rufio's jaw is now wired in three places to hold together the multiple fractures so the bone will fuse back together. 

Once fully stable, Rufio will be headed to a foster home.

MADACC says he needs some time to recover before being available for adoption.
