3-Month-Old Baby Found Dead By Babysitter

Milwaukee - The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office is investigating the death of a baby girl. The mother dropped her baby off at the babysitters house between 1:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

Throughout the day, no concerns were noted by the babysitter.

The 3-month-old infant was later found dead lying face down on a pillow in a chair. According to the Medical Examiner's report, the babysitter stated that she placed the baby down to sleep on a throw pillow on a chair. A second throw pillow was also placed in front of the chair. The baby was then covered with a small blanket. The babysitter put the baby to sleep at 10 p.m. at night. The babysitter checked on the child again at 1:00 a.m. and noted that the child was fussing. When the babysitter checked on her again at 3 a.m., the baby was face down in the corner of the chair. The babysitter then attempted CPR. The child was pronounced dead at 3:29 a.m.

An autopsy was performed today and no visible signs of trauma were found. The cause of death is pending further toxicology.
