23-Year-Old Man in Custody After Crashing Car and Running from Police in the Town of Burlington

TOWN OF BURLINGTON - On Friday, April 15th, the Racine County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a vehicle passing a person at approximately 100 mph. The caller stated that the car then crashed on STH 83rd/Pine Street in the Town of Burlington. Concerned citizens tried to help the operator of the crashed vehicle which was severely damaged and on its roof. The operator of the crashed vehicle exited and fled on foot when he heard emergency vehicles coming.
 

Racine Sheriff K9's Nitro and Friday responded to the scene with their handlers. The K9's along with Sheriff's deputies used thermal night vision to track the suspect for over 1/4 mile through fields and wooded areas. The suspect was found and taken into custody. He is being identified as a 23-year-old male from Kenosha. He was not seriously injured in the crash and is currently being held in the Racine County Jail. He faces numerous traffic charges including OWI 2nd offense, driving without a license, and drug-related charges. The Department of Corrections has also placed a hold on the suspect for violating conditions of probation.
