22-year-old woman dies from fall in rope-climbing incident at Devil's Lake, officials say

BARABOO, Wis. (WISC) -- A 22-year-old woman died in a rope-climbing incident at Devil's Lake State Park Wednesday, according to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials.

Savannah Buik, of Chicago, died as a result of the fall, according to Sauk County officials.

Buik was climbing on the East Bluff side of the park. Sauk County dispatchers said they received a report of a fall victim without a pulse and not breathing around 3:50 p.m.

Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as well as the Baraboo Fire Department Rope Rescue team responded.

The investigation into Buik's death is ongoing, officials said.
