20-year-old man charged after allegedly sexually assaulting UWM student

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old Elm Grove man is now facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a UWM student that he met at an off-campus party.

Matthew Ralfs is now facing charges of Second Degree Sexual Assault, Strangulation and Suffocation, False Imprisonment, and Misdemeanor Battery.

The victim told police that she met Ralfs at an off-campus party in 2017 and that they began talking through Snapchat. She told police that Ralfs picked her up from Sandburg Hall in September of 2017 so that they could watch a movie together.

The victim told police that while they went to Ralfs parents' home in Elm Grove, he sexually assaulted her. The victim said she told Ralfs multiple times to stop but he overpowered her and continued to sexually assault her without her consent.

The victim told police that Ralfs held her down by her wrists, causing her pain. The victim also said that Ralfs struck her with an open fist.

Ralfs also allegedly sent inappropriate pictures to the victim through social media.

Ralfs will have his Preliminary Hearing on March 9.
