20-year-old dies after crash involving stolen vehicle; driver on the run

20-year-old Devonta Blackwell died in a car crash Wednesday afternoon near 40th and Highland. According to the Medical Examiner's report, Devonta was likely sitting in the front passenger seat of a car that hit a tree.

The suspected driver in the case fled the scene and another passenger was taken to Froedtert Hospital. The driver has not been located.

When emergency officials first arrived Devonta was still alive. EMTs tried life saving measures but he was pronounced dead just after 5:00 PM.

Police say that the car was stolen in a carjacking earlier in the day. Police found a loaded gun under the passenger seat.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
