MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – One person is dead following a house fire in Milwaukee early Tuesday morning.
Crews were called to a home near 16th and Hadley around 4:30 a.m. One man was rescued from a front porch. According to the fire department, another man was found in a bedroom unconscious. Despite life-saving efforts, the man later died.
A neighbor says she called 911 after she heard someone yelling for help.
"Everybody was trying to come, somebody tried to run up on the porch, kicked the door open, we were like no don't do that, you're going to make it worse," Ladaija Jackson said. "In the nick of time the firefighters and everybody was here."
The home did not have working smoke detectors.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The Milwaukee Fire Department says two people were pulled from a fire in a home in Milwaukee Tuesday morning.
Crews were called around 4:30 a.m. to a home near 16th and Hadley.
A battalion chief says two people were trapped inside, they were rescued, but one person was unresponsive.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
