2 motorcyclists injured, one seriously, in separate but related crash near Beaver Dam

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating two separate but related crashes that left two motorcyclists injured.

Law enforcement was called out to US Highway 151 near State Highway 33 by Beaver Dam shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a multiple-vehicle traffic crash.

Preliminary investigation reveals that two motorcycles were traveling southbound with a group of at least four motorcycles when two of them collided in the southbound lanes of State Highway 33. One rider was ejected and lying in the left traffic lane when the other involved rider pulled to the right shoulder, walked into traffic, and was struck by a southbound minivan which was avoiding the first crash scene.

Both motorcyclists were taken to local hospitals. One driver is in critical condition. The other remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The operators of the other motorcycles were not located.

The crash remains under investigation.
