2 dead in wrong-way crash on I-94 identified

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office released the identities of the two people who died in a wrong-way crash on I-94. 

Officials say 36-year-old Rei Reynosa was traveling westbound on I-94 eastbound early Saturday morning, when he struck an oncoming sedan. 

Reynosa, who is a Kenosha resident, died at Froedtert Hospital following the crash. 

The driver of the sedan that was struck, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The ME's office identified him as Christopher Van Cleve of Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened on the I-94 eastbound at 32nd, just after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.

At 2:32 a.m., 911 dispatch got a call of an SUV heading westbound on I-94 eastbound. At 2:35 a.m., dispatch was alerted of a head-on collision on I-94 eastbound at 32nd Street.

Several sheriff deputies arrived on the scene shortly after and saw the SUV facing the wrong way with a badly damaged front-end, along with a small four-door sedan, also with a badly damaged front-end.

The driver of the sedan, a 46-year-old man, was unconscious and not breathing and couldn't be removed from his car right away. He needed help from Milwaukee fire to get him out. He was pronounced dead from his injuries at the scene around 3:09 a.m.

The driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old man, was unconscious, but breathing and was taken to a local hospital for surgery on his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital around 6:08 a.m.

While this accident is currently under investigation, it seems that the SUV got on the freeway heading the wrong way somewhere between the Marquette interchange and N. 13th.
