Milwaukee 17-year-old facing felony murder charges after 2 teens killed, 3 others injured in graduation party shooting
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It's been nearly two-and-a-half months since two teens were killed and three more were injured while attending a graduation party in Milwaukee in June.
Now, 17-year-old Earl Williams is in custody and facing felony murder charges.
Two other teens are charged with harboring and aiding a felon.
“I feel like I can sleep better now. It’s a little bit of justice, it’s not a lot, it’s a bit of closure, but I’m still angry," said Venice Hogans-Harris, the mother of 19-year-old Bre'nee Veasley, who died at the scene.
Hogans-Harris said her daughter was a CNA at an area hospital and loved to help others.
“The tears are a little less, but the pain is still fresh," Hogans-Harris said. "This is my baby, this is my first-born, my everything.”
She added that her daughter didn't deserve what happened, and she hopes the justice system will do its part.
“I wouldn’t care if it was life, because they took my life from me, if you ask me," Hogans-Harris said. “Knowing they’re arrested and that no other family will experience what I’m going through, I mean, my child was innocent.”
Another boy, 16-year-old Kingston Liphford, was shot and ultimately died a few weeks later.
The other people injured are ages 14, 15, and 16.
Williams' next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
