JACKSON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 17-year-old Jackson man is under arrest and facing charges after a string of prowling and thefts from vehicles on the night of Christmas.
On the morning of December 26, a resident alerted police after noticing tracks in her neighbor's driveway which indicated that someone had been looking into a vehicle.
Based on a canvas of the neighborhoods and victims' reports, it was determined that the vehicles on seven streets had been entered, all of which were unlocked and parked in driveways.
Police were able to take the suspect into custody and recover stolen property.
The man faces charges of prowling and theft. Criminal charges for other offenses have been referred to the District Attorney.
The Jackson Police Department emphasizes the importance of locking vehicles overnight. Not only can property be stolen, access to the home can be made if the thief finds a garage door remote control.
