Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: No Tail
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It was a mad rush at a local grocery store today, but for a good cause.
The 16th annual Race for the Hungry took place on Thursday, Jan. 30. The race had two teams competing with nothing, but shopping carts and food pantry wish lists, as they scrambled through El Rey Food Mart on Burnham St.
The teams were in search of food to feed those struggling with hungry in Milwaukee. They filled their bags to the brim.
"We are part of this community, so it matters to us. It is very close to our heart and letting the community know everything helps," said Alfredo Martin, area manager, North Shore Bank.
All the food collected during the race goes towards the Milwaukee Christian Center's food pantry. North Shore Bank added a monetary donation to the food pantry as well.
