16-year-old driving stolen vehicle strikes MPD squad car, 3 officers injured

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a collision involving a stolen vehicle and an MPD squad car that occurred Tuesday, July 19.

Officials say it happened around 4:21 p.m. near W. Vliet and 27th St. 

Police say the striking vehicle disregarded a red traffic signal at Vliet Street and struck an occupied squad car. 

The driver, a 16-year-old Milwaukee boy, and the passenger, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man, fled the scene on foot. They were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. 

Three officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. 

Police say the striking vehicle was stolen. Charges are expected from the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
