UPDATE: 12-year-old boy shot by 10-year-old girl in home near 11th and Finn, two adults arrested
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police were called to a north side home near 11th and Finn after a 12-year-old boy was shot. According to authorities, it was an accident.
A firearm somehow got into the hands of a 10-year-old girl inside the home.
CBS 58 news spoke with a woman familiar with the family, who asked to remain anonymous. "I think they might of just found something which was a gun, picked something up, probably was looking at it and it went off,” she said.
Fortunately, the young boy will be okay after suffering a graze wound.
But it was a traumatic experience for those involved, following the arrests of two adults.
Those familiar with the situation said the grandmother of the boy, along with the mother of the girl who accidentally shot him were taken into custody.
"The mom was hysterical, you got her 10 year old locked up in a police car with no clothes on, nothing but her panties and she kept asking them, I just want get my daughter and put her some clothes on, or just let me bring the pants to ya'll and put her some clothes on."
The boy's cousin, Judie Johnson was bothered by this. "It's a little sad to know he was shot, it's even sadder to know my how cousins were treated by officers. That's what the issue is. How she was taken down like a common dog," she said.
But according to police, the two adults arrested were not cooperative.
Criminal charges are expected in the coming days.
