‘Loving dad’ killed in triple shooting at 51st and North
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 44-year-old father is the latest victim of gun violence here in Milwaukee.
While his family did not want to go on camera, they told CBS 58 44-year-old Alex Patterson was a loving dad.
His partner says they had dreams of building a life together, dreams she says have been taken away.
"I saw police, firefighters, EMTs all go into the house," said Iona Dillon, neighbor.
On Wednesday night, Milwaukee police responded to a shooting at 51st and North.
"We heard two bangs, it sounded like metal hitting," said Kameron Terrell, neighbor.
According to the medical examiner's office, Alex Patterson was shot after getting into a possible fight inside his friend's home.
"I heard some yelling. It just sounded like one, maybe two voices and there weren't words. It was like a shock, yell, and I heard some thuds," said Dillon.
The suspect and another person were also shot but only suffered minor injuries.
"I heard fighting in that house before, so I thought nothing of it until there were sirens. They, like, police taped my house down to their house, that was like really bad," said Dillon.
Since Saturday, 17 people have been shot in Milwaukee, seven of which have been fatal.
"It's been happening a lot in the area. It was a little shocking when I heard about it," said Dillion.
That partner CBS 58 spoke with tells us Patterson was a positive influence on the community. She said he helped feed the homeless and mentored kids stay to help them stay off the street.
She says he didn't deserve this.
