Zurn Water Solutions will match all turkey donations to Hunger Task Force throughout November
WEST MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's the 11th annual Turkey Ticker. In an effort to make sure all families have food on the dinner table this Thanksgiving, Zurn Water Solutions will match all turkey donations made to the Hunger Task Force throughout November.
"Making turkeys accessible to start this very special Thanksgiving holiday," said Angela Hersil, who oversees corporate communications and community affairs for Zurn.
Standing in front of a 7,000 foot freezer, Hersil announced the initiative Monday, Nov. 1 at the Hunger Task Force (HTF) warehouse.
For every donation you make, two dinner tables will get a turkey for the holiday. Whether donors give online or drop off a turkey to the HTF warehouse, Zurn will match it.
"More than ever, this Thanksgiving is going to be a very important time for the community to rally behind Hunger Task Force to help us collect as many turkeys as possible," said Jonathan Hansen, the director of development for Hunger Task Force.
Last year, HTF gave away 4,000 turkeys. This year, they expect the need to be greater.
"It brings people together, it creates warm memories," said Hansen of the holiday centerpiece. "Especially for families who are struggling through hunger, who've had a tough year through the ongoing pandemic."
On Nov. 12, the first round of turkey donations will be loaded up and taken to local food pantries to be distributed to families.
