Young teens arrested after stealing car in Madison, leading Dane County deputy on pursuit

DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three young teens were arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Madison and leading a deputy on a pursuit.

A Dane County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday after seeing a stolen vehicle driving on USH 151 near Nelson Road.

The vehicle was reported as stolen out of Madison on Friday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the driver failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit lasted 1.9 miles and reached speeds of 74 MPH before the 16-year-old male driver stopped. He was arrested on charges of felony eluding and operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent. He also had a warrant.

Two passengers, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old both from Madison, were also detained. They were later released to their parents.

The investigation remains ongoing.
