Young boy pulled from burning house in Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Fire Department confirms that a young boy was pulled from a burning home on the 7700 block of West Villard Street in Milwaukee Wednesday evening.

Firefighters say they arrived to flames shooting through the roof, with a mother and three of her children standing outside. The fourth child, according to a family priest, was trapped in the basement. The priest said neighbors tried kicking down the door to get the 5-year-old boy out until firefighters arrived. Officials were able to find the boy within minutes of entering the home. They say the boy was not breathing and that they began resuscitation efforts on him before transporting him to the hospital. They did not provide his current condition.

Officials did suffer a big setback reaching the scene when someone initially gave them the wrong address.

\"My message, my message to the community unless you are in harm's way, trapped in that building and you need to get out... please make sure that you're giving us the right address,\" Milwaukee Deputy Fire Chief Aaron Lipski said.

He urged people to ensure you pass along enough information.

\"It is imperative when you call 911, please wait for that dispatcher, that telecommuincator, to communicate to you. Okay we are on the way, stay on the line or you can hang up now,\" Lipski added.

Lipski added that the home had no working smoke detectors.
