MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two days before Christmas, those in southeast Wisconsin are battling sub-zero temperatures.
With some starting the holiday weekend early, many had to find creative ways to beat the bitter cold.
Dangerous windchills made any time outside unbearable.
"You can feel it in your bones," said Tiffany Simpson, stopping to grab coffee at Colectivo in Bay View.
Some folks took the day to get last-minute shopping done at Milwaukee Public Market.
"Nice and cozy, whereas it's really freezing out there," said shopper, Joe Riepenhoff.
Others opted for a warm workout at Adventure Rock Climbing.
"We tried climbing outside last Christmas in 30-degree weather and couldn't feel our hands. So, this is a lot nicer," one climber told CBS 58.
Another popular indoor destination was the movie theater.
"'Too cold' is when you bring blankets to the movie theater," said movie-goer Artrina Matthews.
Marcus Theaters is giving free hot chocolate to movie-goers on Friday and Saturday.
"Yeah, it's cold, but come to the movies. It's warm in here," said Marcus Theatre's CEO, Greg Marcus. "Just brave that 30 second run from your car to get into the theater, and we'll give you some hot chocolate when you get here."
Movie theaters will be open all holiday weekend, keeping that warm Christmas tradition alive.
