Yearly temp check after a warm Monday and cooler weather returning
What a warm start to the work week! Monday saw high temps reach into the upper 60s and even hitting 70 in Milwaukee and Kenosha. Milwaukee was only 4* away from the record high and almost 20* above-average for this time of year.
Seeing 70s in November is not completely unusual. We do average one day every November in the 70s. The record is seven days in November hitting 70 set back in 2020. The latest we've ever seen a 70* day is November 21st but the average last day is actually at the end of October.
The warmth on Monday is just a reminder that this has been a very warm year. Through November 6th Milwaukee has an average temp since January 1st of 54.5* which is enough to be the third warmest year to date. We are just barely behind the number 1 and 2 spots of 2012 and 2021.
Now it's back to reality. High temps the rest of this week are much closer to average in the low 50s through Thursday and then even dipping into the 40s for a few days at the end of the week.
if you want more warmth there are some signs that it could roll in for the third week of November. The Climate Prediction Center gives Wisconsin a 70% chance at above average temps. But, it's important to realize that average highs by this point of the month are in the upper 40s so even just hitting the 50s would satisfy that average. I'm not seeing signs of 70 degrees returning yet.
