Wrong-way drunken driver nearly strikes deputy


mso-bidi-font-weight:bold\">Milwaukee, WI – A deputy barely avoided being struck by a wrong-way drunk driver around 2:20 this morning.  The driver, 33-year-old Alicia M. Sulok of Hales Corners, was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 at Chase Avenue without any headlights on when she almost hit a deputy in lane two.

mso-bidi-font-weight:bold\">The deputy exited I-43 and re-entered heading southbound in order to parallel the wrong-way driver.  He caught up to the silver Honda Accent near Howard Avenue.  The vehicle stopped briefly, then continued to I-43 and Edgerton Avenue and stopped again.  The deputy was able to make verbal contact with the driver and directed her to turn off the car and place her keys on the seat.

mso-bidi-font-weight:bold\">Sulok tested at nearly three times the blood alcohol limit.  She was cited for DUI-1st and Recklessly Endangering Safety-2nd Degree, which carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison.

mso-bidi-font-weight:bold\">Sulok stated she had four beers at a local bar and had no idea where she got on the freeway.  She said she was just following GPS directions.
