Would-be We Energies scammer arrested after social media post

We Energies is warning disconnected customers to avoid scams after a recent post made on social media.

According to WE Energies, a suspect posted on Facebook "Doing lights and power if you in the dark hit my line ASAP."

The police believe this was part of a scam to illegally reconnect customers. Police shared the Facebook post with the individual's parole officer. He has now been arrested for violation of parole due to the alleged illegal activity implied in his post.

We Energies wants to remind disconnected customers that hiring an unauthorized party to illegally reconnect electric service could cause damage and lead to safety hazards such as electrocution or fire.

We Energies also wants to remind customers that illegal reconnection does not erase past-due balances.
