Woman Stabbed To Death On Red Line

CHICAGO (CBS CHICAGO) — A woman was stabbed to death while riding on the Red Line.

It happened Thursday afternoon near the 47th Street stop.

According to a witness, the victim was sitting in a train car across from a man who asked her a question.

When the woman responded, he got up and began to stab her.

She collapsed and the man slit her throat, according to the witness.

Chicago Police have confirmed the woman’s death, and say they have a suspect in custody.

Service will be operating on a single track, completely bypassing the 47th stop while police continue their investigation.

Shuttles will be provided between 35th to Garfield.

The Red Line is the busiest subway in the CTA’s system.
