Woman killed in hit-and-run crash near 24th and Center identified as Shardae Penleton

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Family tells CBS 58 the woman who was killed in a hit-and-run crash near 24th and Center, is Shardae Penleton.

Milwaukee police confirmed Penleton was 24 years old. 

A vigil is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, family said.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police say a woman who appears to be in her 30's was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles around 10:23 p.m. near 24th and Center Saturday, Oct. 3. 

According to police, a vehicle was speeding and crashed into a second vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the second vehicle to crash into a building and a pedestrian. The first and striking vehicle started on fire and the occupants fled on foot. 

The pedestrian, a woman who appears to be in her 30's, was killed. 

Police say the driver of the second vehicle was a 19-year-old man who sustained serious injuries. He is expected to survive. 

There are no current suspects.
