Woman killed in crash in Walworth County after driver ignores stop sign

The Walworth County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy H and Territorial Road in LaGrange.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Upon arrival, crews found two vehicles with extensive damage at that intersection.

Initial investigation revealed that a Dodge Nitro being driven by a Delavan man was eastbound on Territorial Road. The vehicle failed to stop at the posted stop sign and crashed into a gray Mazda Protege which was southbound on Hwy H and had the right of way with no stop sign.

The Dodge hit the Mazda on its passenger side. The passenger of the Mazda, 39-year-old Nancy Sanchez-Castillo of Elkhorn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda, as well as the driver of the Dodge, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office.
