Woman Arrested After Drinking Half Bottle of Vodka, Driving Wrong Way on I-43
Friday morning, at about 5:00 AM, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to calls about a wrong way driver traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 near North Avenue. One of the callers reported having to veer out of their lane of traffic to avoid being struck.
Tory Galipo, 22-years-old, of Franklin, also called 911 to report she had crashed, telling deputies at the scene that she had consumed a half of a bottle of vodka. Galipo crashed into the GM wall going the wrong way on the Highland Avenue on-ramp. She was not injured in the crash and registered a blood alcohol content of .22.
Galipo faces a charge of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety and received citations for DUI-1st offense, Failure to Control vehicle, and Driving Wrong Way on Divided Highway.
If convicted, Galipo faces up to ten years in prison.
