Man charged in crash killing woman and her 1-year-old son

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police say the 31-year-old man is now in custody and is facing charges in a multi-vehicle crash, including three counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and one count of reckless driving causing great bodily harm.


WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 30-year-old woman and her 1-year-old son were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Washington County early Wednesday, June 22. 

It happened around 5:42 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 164 and Elmwood Road in the Village of Richfield. 

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, a southbound vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Mayville woman was rear ended. The Mayville woman's vehicle was pushed into the northbound lane of traffic and struck by another vehicle. The Mayville woman and her 1-year-old son who was her passenger were killed. 

The occupants of the other vehicles involved in the crash were also injured. 

The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Highway 164 was closed from Highway Q to Highway 167 for approximately 4.5 hours to assist in the crash investigation.
