WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The 18-year-old girl accused of brutally killing the dog of a family she was babysitting for in Sussex, was back in court on Wednesday, Feb. 7, where she waived her right to her preliminary hearing.

Kielee Sonnemann is accused of killing an 8-year-old chihuahua named Batman last month.

Court records say Sonnemann stabbed the dog with a pair of scissors and wrapped a bag around his head before hiding his body under a pile of stuffed animals and blankets in the room of an 11-year-old girl.

Officials said the incident happened as Sonnemann was babysitting for the family and watching their 4-year-old daughter.

In court Wednesday, Sonnemann confirmed she's been taking medications for a mental illness although it wasn't immediately clear what those things are.

Judge: "Are you taking medications for your illness?"

Sonnemann: "Yes."

Judge: "And did you take those medications today?"

Sonnemann: "Yes."

Judge: "How long have you been taking that medication or medications?"

Sonnemann: "A year I think."

Judge: "Ok, and you understand how that medication impacts you, correct?"

Sonnemann: "Yes.”

A GoFundMe for the victim's family's attorney's fees and for Batman's cremation has raised nearly $3,500 so far.

Sonnemann's next hearing will be on Friday, Feb. 9 during the afternoon at the Waukesha County Courthouse.
