MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin cheeses are competing for the top spot in a bracket-style challenge similar to basketball’s March Madness. The Wisconsin Artisan Cheese bracket features specialty and artisan cheeses in head-to-head matchups, with fans voting to determine the winner.
Halei Heinzel, Wisconsin’s 77th Alice in Dairyland, discussed the competition when she joined us on Wednesday, March 19.
The first matchup features gouda and mascarpone. Gouda, originally from Holland, is a washed-curd cheese known for its creamy texture and sweet flavor. Mascarpone, a spreadable cheese from Italy’s Lombardy region, is often used in desserts.
Votes can be cast on social media by checking out her social media links on the Alice in Dairyland page.
