Wisconsin Teenager Dies While Standing on Truck's Running Board Driving
LANCASTER, Wis. (Channel 3000) - A 19-year-old Potosi man died after he fell from a truck while trying to drive it and standing on a running board, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials were called at 1:13 AM, Friday when they were notified by the Dubuque Police Department of someone who suffered serious injuries falling from a moving vehicle. Deputies said Kyle Vosberg was driving his 2011 Ram truck on County Road U near Dutch Hallow Road when the incident occurred.
Investigators said a 17-year-old and two 18-years-olds were in the truck during the incident.
The 19-year-old set the cruise control at about 30 mph and tried to get out and stand on the running board of the truck.
Vosberg was controlling the steering wheel on the truck from outside with the door closed, according to deputies. He lost his footing and slipped off the running board and fell onto the road.
Deputies said Vosberg suffered a serious head injury. His three friends brought him back to his house where his mother then took him to Mercy Medical Center. He was later flown to University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City where he eventually died from his injuries.
