Wisconsin State Fair Holds First Ever Cream Puff 5-K

The Wisconsin State Fair is still a few weeks away, but you can get into the spirit of things with the brand new "Cream Puff 5-K.

It's this Wednesday, July 20,  at 6:30 p.m.

Online registration is full.

But organizers say if you show up around 4 p.m., there will be about 100 spots for people to sign up right there.

Those who do run get a preview of everyone's favorite at State Fair; a cream puff.

"Bring the whole family out," urge Kristi Chuckel, Communications Director of the fair. "I think it will be a great night. You get a cream puff at the end. There will be live music. It's just a really fun way to get ready for the fair and have a little bit of a fair vibe and also do it for a great cause."

There's a 1-K walk for the kids.

Proceeds go to the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation.

All registered participants will receive one free ticket to the 2016 Wisconsin State Fair, an original Cream Puff 5K t-shirt and a finisher’s ribbon, as well as one of the first Original Cream Puffs to be made in 2016!

Prior to the race, Milwaukee Airwaves will offer entertainment, and after the race participants are encouraged to stay for the post-race party as part of the Wednesday Night Live series at the Budweiser Pavilion, featuring music from The LoveMonkeys.

The 5K (3.1 miles) will feature a course that includes the famous Milwaukee Mile Speedway and streets within State Fair Park, giving participants a fitness experience they’ll find nowhere else! The event will be both kid- and stroller-friendly, and offer a 1K option for those who prefer a shorter route. Water will be available at multiple locations throughout the duration of the race, and all participants will be rewarded for their hard work with an Original Cream Puff at the end of the race.

The event will be produced by Swarmm Events, and PT Timing will offer results, including timing, for registered participants.
