Wisconsin residents can now buy state park passes when renewing vehicle registration

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin drivers can now purchase an annual state park and forest pass when renewing their vehicle registration, Gov. Tony Evers and state officials announced Thursday, June 11.

The option is available online or at any DMV location. The state Department of Transportation says about 3 million residents renew their registration online each year.

The partnership was made possible by legislation Evers signed in 2024 that changed state park passes from a calendar-year basis to a rolling 12-month period from the date of purchase, aligning with how vehicle registrations work.

"By enabling folks to get their state park pass when they renew their vehicle registration, we're not only streamlining the process and making it easier for Wisconsinites, but we're also encouraging folks to get their park pass year after year," Evers said on Thursday.
